Who We Are
We are Christians. We are like everyone else - flawed by sin. We have submitted ourselves to Jesus Christ and are cleansed by his blood.
We are God's children. Because we have been baptized into His Son, He has adopted us as His children.
We are citizens of The Kingdom of Heaven. We come together in Springfield, IL, to worship God and and to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the community and to other parts of the country and the world.
Check us out! Come and meet with us! We'd love to meet you!
We believe the Holy Bible is the word of God. In it, God has made himself known to his creation.
The Old Testament shows us where we came from. We see how man's relationship to our Creator has been ruined by sin. God promises reconciliation through the Christ.
The New Testament is God's record of Jesus Christ in the flesh and of the establishment of his kingdom. God promises eternity with him for those who are reconciled to him through the blood of Jesus Christ.
We believe Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ promised in the Old Testament, that he lived a perfect life in flesh and blood, that he died for the sins of all mankind, was buried, arose and ascended to God's right hand as our Lord. According to the New Testament, Jesus will reign over his kingdom until the judgment day, when time will end and all mankind will be divided into either eternal bliss around God's throne, or eternal punishment in a fury of fire. Until then, Jesus requires that we come to repentance, submit to baptism in water for remission of our sins, and become part of his church, where we live faithfully and endeavor to bring others into his kingdom as well.
Thinking of Visiting?
Great! We'd love to meet you! You are always invited to attend any worship service or Bible study.
On Sundays most wear somewhat dressy attire, although some dress casually. For Bible classes during the week, most dress casually. We will not be concerned with what you wear, but just wanted you to know what to expect.
If you don't have a Bible, no problem, we have plenty to share. When we sing, which is typically only on Sundays, no great singing voice is required.
Worship is from the heart!
We will not ask for donations. As the members of this church we consider the funding of the work to be our responsibility.
